Have a look at some maps of The Highlands, then Strathspey and finally Nethy Bridge and - we're 300 metres off the Nethy Bridge to Tomintoul road, at the village boundary O.S. map Landranger Series Sheet 36 Grid Reference- 016204 NETHY BRIDGE on the new Speyside Way has been a favourite spot for visitors from throughout Britain since the mid nineteenth century. The Lazy Duck nestles in the fringes of the Abernethy Forest Nature Reserve (RSPB) near to where the River Nethy joins the River Spey, and being in the east central highlands enjoys some of the lowest rainfall figures for upland areas in the UK The Lazy Duck now appeals particularly to MOUNTAINEERS climbing and roaming the high tops, corries and glens of the Cairngorm and Monadhliath mountains - and to WALKERS enjoying the native forests and woods of Abernethy and Rothiemurchus. BIRD-WATCHERS come to have, amongst many other sightings for which Abernethy is noted, the osprey nesting at Loch Garten - and in other locations too. CYCLISTS have quiet roads and forest tracks to explore as well as mountain routes. ANGLERS, as visitors to the village, are able to fish the Abernethy Waters on the Spey, and DINGHY SAILORS and CANOEISTS can visit several lochs as well as paddle the river itself.
SKIERS are within 40 mins driving time of both Cairngorm and The Lecht ski grounds, and from January to March you can often just ski from the door. For GOLFERS there are five courses within fifteen minutes drive.
