by taxi from Aviemore costs from £15. Try Geordie's 01479 810118.

for car hire try MacDonald's in Aviemore (tel 01479 811444) They will meet public transport or deliver free to Nethy Bridge.

by local buses from Aviemore or Grantown-on- Spey (or tel. 01479 811211 for times)

by coach to Aviemore either by Scottish Citylink from Inverness, Glasgow, Edinburgh and other places in Scotland, or by National Express from London and other places in England and across Europe.

by train to Aviemore from Inverness or Perth with connections from Edinburgh & Glasgow. Services also run direct from London Kings Cross via Peterborough, York & Newcastle. There is also a night sleeper service to Aviemore from London Euston via Crewe (telephone enquiries 08457 484950) with small numbers of bargain berths bookable online only from 6 weeks in advance.

by air to Inverness with -

Easyjet - from London Gatwick, London Luton and Bristol

FlyBE - has taken on the old BA routes from across the UK including the Northern Isles

by air to Glasgow Prestwick and Edinburgh -

...from across Europe with Ryanair and others. It's a scenic four hour train ride to Aviemore station but there's a worthwhile trick here. If you fly into Prestwick you're entitled to half price rail travel from the airport to anywhere in Scotland. From Prestwick to Aviemore is only £25 return. Just keep your ticket or email printout and buy your ticket on the train. Also remember you have to change stations in Glasgow (Central to Queen Street - a five minute walk).
