The Lazy Duck

Stay in our luxuriously unique eco huts, the bunkhouse hostel or intimate campsite at our six acre off grid hideaway nestled in the heart of Cairngorms National Park. Adventurous days are followed by relaxing evenings in our wood fired hot tub or infrared sauna, with yoga and massage offered in our well being studio.

The Lazy Duck is an organically evolved eco haven, hosting memorable holidays that don't cost the earth since 1999.

COVID MESSAGE: 15th February 2021
The Lazy Duck is currently closed and we expect will remain so into March. We will continue to operate a Covid cancellation policy. Any current or future booking that is disrupted by our closure or your inability to travel will be eligible for a credit to transfer for a later date with no time limit or additional payments needed. We are aware that each of our guests have unique circumstances so if a credit is not going to be a viable option or circumstances have changed then a refund will be issued.

Just got home after spending 2 nights at The Lazy Duck and I’ve got to say it exceeded my expectations in every way. It was peaceful, having only 4 tent pitches and I had it pretty much to myself. The facilities for campers were great, a cosy shelter with a chiminea to warm you up. I believe I was the first camper to use their new shower room but there’s also the option of using the woodland shower. The staff were friendly and welcoming and I would definitely recommend this site.

We came to The Lazy Duck for a getaway from life’s daily stresses, what we found was absolute paradise. From the cheeky ducks (who we named) to the visit from a squirrel on our last morning. It was a perfect slice of heaven and we’re counting down the weeks till we can book and come again.

There is not a more tranquil or cozy place where we could have been at this stressful time of year; no easier place to self-quarantine. The chooks are very welcoming an it was a pleasure to be able to see the night sky from such a comfy box bed. We hope to be back. It was well worth the trek from Australia.

Ideally located to explore the Cairngorms National Park and just 20 minutes from Aviemore by car. An adventurous walk from your log cabin over the Ryvoan Pass takes you into the heart of Rothiemurchus Forest. It’s only a short hop onto the Snow Roads for a tour of our local distilleries. Abernethy Forest is on your doorstep so adventures can start from our eco huts if you prefer. The Loch Garten Osprey centre and shoreside walks is a must.
