Camping with Lazy Duck
NB: OUR CAMPSITE IS CLOSED UNTIL THE COVID-19 SITUATION TURNS AROUND. WE SIMPLY DON’T HAVE THE SHARED SERVICES TO PROVIDE YOU WITH SAFE AND ENJOYABLE CAMPING.
A unique serene space for lightweight campers.
Camping with Lazy Duck is an intimate relaxed affair in the Cairngorms National Park. You will enjoy generously sized pitches and a communal campers shelter; a friendly cosy space to gather and share your day’s adventures with fellow campers. Otherwise, laze in hammocks gazing up the mature Scots Pine trees planning the next day’s activity. Wander up to our Poet’s Seat and gaze over toward the Northern Corries. Choose from an indoor wetroom or delight in the unique Lazy Duck experience of a bush shower in the forest.
We have space for four pre-booked lightweight (1, 2 or 3 person tents) with reserve camping pitch for anyone who arrives ‘off the road’ either cycling or on foot. We are a stone’s throw from the Speyside Way and regularly welcome camping guests either as last minute walk-ins, or pre-booked. For guidance, the maximum dimensions for your tent is length 375cm x width 180cm x height 150cm. For stays of more than 3 nights we ask that you re-pitch so that the ground will remain green and fresh. Unfortunately, because of the forest around us, we are unable to accommodate disposable BBQs, pit fires or fire bowls. Vehicles may not be taken on to the camping ground at any time during your stay, though the car park is very close by and wheelbarrows available.
To unwind and relax a little more, book a private session in our wood-fired hot tub, infra-red sauna or massage and yoga treatment in our well being studio. Please pre-book or get in touch with us for more information. Are we the UK’s smallest campsite? We think we might be.
£15 for a tent & 1 person
+ £7.50 per each additional person.
Children aged 3 & under stay for free.

Camping in Aviemore - Need to Know
Camping is self-catering affair however we can provide you with a Lazy Breakfast Hamper consisting of home baked bread, eggs from our hens , homemade muesli, local jams butter, milk and from mid-summer onwards enjoy salads and vegetables from our garden. Our hampers can be pre-booked or arranged before you arrive.
We ask that lit chimeneas and cooking stoves are never left unattended. Please don’t approach the pond or wander amongst the ducks, but do watch them from the Welcoming Seat overlooking the water. Children are welcome to ask if they can help at morning duck feeding time.
You will find recycling arrangements clearly marked for all separated waste materials. Protective slates are provided and must be used beneath all cooking stoves & hot pots to avoid any burn marks on the grass & shelter surfaces.
The Lazy Duck is a peaceful place. Please be mindful of this when you are enjoying the swings and hammock and around the chimenea fires. For everybody’s benefit we ask for a respectful quiet period between 11pm and 8am. Lazy Duck is a non-smoking environment.
Regrettably visiting dog/s are not possible on account of the sensitive wildlife in the vicinity. However we can personally recommend a small local kennels, Hilltop Kennels in Dulnain Bridge, offering first class accommodation and individual care at a very reasonable price to enable your pet to get the benefit of the great walks here.
COVID-19 SELF SERVICE CHECK-IN
Until the current Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, Lazy Duck will be operating a self service check in. The practicalities are covered in the links below but please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any further questions. A full status list of activities, attractions and restaurant/bars is being worked on and will be made available as soon as possible.
NB: Please note that our normal overflow pitches may not be available for walk-ins as we have always tried to accommodate. If you intend to walk in on the off chance, please call beforehand.
A bespoke hamper for your stay is available, please contact us by email to arrange. Until guidance has been issued, Well Being sessions are not available.
