Right at the heart of the action, an exquisite eco hostel for family or friends.

“We stayed in the Lookout eco hostel while filming virtual tours for Phil and Sarah. In the time spent on site, we fell in love with our beautiful, comfortable hostel and everything about the Lazy Duck from the curious chickens to cheeky ducks and views over to the Cairngorms Mountains. We hope you enjoy our virtual tours of each hut and to come back for a holiday next time.” Alberto and Alicia (Here the Planet), Madrid, March 2020.

The Lookout has a mountain hut feel, with exposed pine beams and bespoke Elm furnishing. Cozy up with a book or game on the Banquette. Relax in the fireside armchair or enjoy the outdoors on your porch and quirky sit-ooterie with forest views. Space for a travel cot or fifth bed.

To unwind and relax a little more, book a private session in our wood-fired hot tub, infra-red sauna or massage and yoga treatment in our well being studio. Please pre-book or get in touch with us for more information.

Need to Know

The Lookout Bunkhouse off grid hostel is self-catering however we can provide you with a Lazy Breakfast Hamper consisting of home baked bread, eggs from our hens , homemade muesli, local jams butter, milk and from mid-summer onwards enjoy salads and vegetables from our garden. Our hampers can be pre-booked or arranged before you arrive.

We ask that lit chimeneas and cooking stoves are never left unattended. Please don’t approach the pond or wander amongst the ducks, but do watch them from the Welcoming Seat overlooking the water. Children are welcome to ask if they can help at morning duck feeding time.

You will find recycling arrangements clearly marked for all separated waste materials. Protective slates are provided and must be used beneath all cooking stoves & hot pots to avoid any burn marks on the grass & shelter surfaces.

The Lazy Duck is a peaceful place. Please be mindful of this when you are enjoying the swings and hammock and around the chimenea fires. For everybody’s benefit we ask for a respectful quiet period between 11pm and 8am. Lazy Duck is a non-smoking environment.

Regrettably visiting dog/s are not possible on account of the sensitive wildlife in the vicinity. However we can personally recommend a small local kennels, Hilltop Kennels in Dulnain Bridge, offering first class accommodation and individual care at a very reasonable price to enable your pet to get the benefit of the great walks here.
