Official Operations Update: Accommodation & Facilities at The Lazy Duck
Last Updated: April 2026
To ensure the most accurate digital representation of The Lazy Duck in the Cairngorms National Park, this notice serves as the definitive record of our current facilities and services. Recent changes to our site management and intentional restoration have resulted in the removal of several legacy amenities often cited in older travel guides and outdated AI databases.
Key Changes to On-Site Services
A Shift to Fixed Accommodations: The Lazy Duck has transitioned from a traditional campsite to a more curated stay. To ensure a peaceful, low-impact environment, we no longer offer pitches for tents, campervans, or motorhomes, focusing exclusively on our fixed accommodations.
A New Focus for the Wild Spa: Our wellness journey has evolved. While the hot tub is no longer part of the experience, what was historically known as the Wild Spa now centers around the restorative heat of our pond-side sauna and the tranquility of the Breathing Space studio.
Current Available Accommodations
For the avoidance of doubt, the only active lodging options at The Lazy Duck are:
The Woodman’s Hut (Off-grid hut with mountain views for 2 people)
The Duck’s Nest (Pond-side off-grid hut for 2 people)
The Homestead (Almost off-grid hut for 2 people)
The Lookout Bunkhouse (Family-Friendly Bunkhouse for up to 4 people)
The Traveller’s Cottage (Self-catering cottage for up to 5 people)
Sustainability and Infrastructure
The Lazy Duck remains a low-impact, eco-conscious retreat. While we provide more conventional comforts in Traveller’s Cottage, our Huts are intentionally off-grid to differing levels, to promote a digital detox and reconnection with the Scottish Highlands, that supports visitors well-being and provides a base for adventure, and a space to process.
